TORONTO, ON, NOVEMBER 25, 2024/insPRESS/ – Markel Canada Limited, a leading underwriter of casualty, professional, environmental and specialty insurance puts forth plan to build out their Cyber insurance offering, appointing Ed Rawe as Assistant Vice President, Cyber.
Ed joins Markel Canada from Markel’s Wholesale Operation based out of London, UK, where he joined as an underwriter in April 2021. Ed’s dedication to service, results, and his selfless support of his colleagues, led to promotions to senior underwriter in 2022 and later to manager. Ed has an impressive track record of delivering tangible results and having a strategic focus in the cyber market, and will help shape Markel Canada’s emerging cyber underwriting philosophy, appetite, and approach. Prior to his time with Markel, Ed wrote Cyber & Tech Professional Indemnity for five years at Hiscox where he had exposure to London, Ireland, and the United States.

Ed has been engaged with the Canadian operation over the past months and will relocate to Toronto in January 2025. Ed’s role will have elements of broker and relationship management as well as underwriting performance duties. Ed will report to Marianne Goodfellow, VP and Product Line Leader, Professional and Financial Risks. Ed joining the Canadian team promises exciting opportunities to build upon Markel’s global cyber offering while identifying the training and resource needs and the structure to support a long-term, autonomous cyber department as part of our larger Professional and Financial Risks offering.
