At TSV Grünwald in Munich, he had trained the D youth team there, in which his son plays with other eleven-year-olds. However, it was not the children who were the reason for his resignation, but their parents. They annoyed Matthäus so much with their constant phone calls, criticisms and demands that he resigned, as he said in a television interview. “Let someone else do it, maybe he'll do it better,” said the 63-year-old former midfielder resignedly.
