Hardner’s success and drive led to her being named one of IBA’s Elite Women for 2022.
As head of EA for Arch Insurance, Hardner leads a team of 90 underwriting professionals who specialize in providing management liability insurance to a broad range of industries. The division contains three specialty sub-units: large commercial group (LCG), growth and middle market, and financial services.
Prior to leading EA, Hardner headed the LCG, which offers products including directors and officers liability, employment practices liability, and fiduciary liability to public and private companies with revenues of over $500 million.
“I have been fortunate to have had mentors and leaders who have consistently encouraged and pushed me to take larger roles within the organization,” Hardner told IBA. “Because of their support, I felt empowered to take on greater responsibilities that have positively impacted my career and where I am today.”

Before joining Arsh, Hardner worked at The Hartford, where she managed the large public and private D&O, fid and EPL book of business for the Midwest. Prior to switching over to management liability, she held various leadership positions in primary and excess specialty casualty lines for the company.
Hardner said the most rewarding aspect of her current role is being able to develop and mentor Arch employees. She said she was passionate about helping employees with their career progression, and especially supporting women in the industry.
“Work-life balance continues to be a major challenge for women, and especially working mothers,” Hardner said. “I am hopeful that the lessons from the pandemic and successful work-from-home will carry over to some extent and give women more flexibility.”
