Whe doesn’t know it, the “Girl from Ipanema”? The beautiful muse in the song by Brazilian musician Antônio Carlos Jobim has made Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro world famous. The Copacabana has also often been sung about. The two beaches are among the most exclusive locations in Rio de Janeiro. However, it is a bit more exclusive in Leblon, the sequel to Ipanema. The golden light of the setting sun, the wide sandy beach, the silhouettes of beautiful bodies in the foreground, behind them the distinctive hill range of the “Dois Irmãos”: Leblon Beach provides all the elements for one of the most classic photos of Rio de Janeiro. It is not surprising that this backdrop has been used for countless of the popular Brazilian soap operas, the telenovelas.
But the Brazilian starlets don’t just come to Leblon for a film shoot. Many of them also live here. If you stroll around Leblon, you don’t even need a lot of luck to meet a Brazilian celebrity. Here, in one of Rio’s trendiest residential areas, nestled between the lagoon and the beach and neighboring Ipanema, is said to have the highest density of well-known personalities. Local residents include, for example, the musician Chico Buarque and a number of other celebrities from Brazilian show business.
