According to a report, the insolvent shoe chain Görtz will close further branches in Germany. Apparently, larger locations are particularly affected.

After Görtz announced at the beginning of May after the insolvency in September 2022 that some locations would close, more will probably be added.
As the “Textil Wirtschaft” learned from insider circles, the shoe retailer has now sent notices of termination to 19 other landlords. According to the report, these are mainly large and therefore more expensive locations such as in Aachen, Cologne, Frankfurt, Munich and Münster.
Apparently renegotiations are still ongoing. The number of branches that close could therefore be reduced by a few more locations. The Görtz branch network is apparently being further thinned out.
After the bankruptcy: Görtz currently operates 70 branches in Germany
After the bankruptcy, Görtz had already closed about half of its locations in the months that followed, including flagship shops in Düsseldorf and Frankfurt am Main. However, this did not really come as a surprise, since these were announced at the beginning of the restructuring process.
According to Görtz, it currently operates around 70 locations with around 1,300 employees. It cannot be ruled out that employees in the affected branches will also lose their jobs. When asked by TW, the company did not want to comment on more precise figures.
