No more fines?: Speed camera warnings on Amazon for 19.99 euros – with a catch
Speed violations can get pretty expensive. If you drive 10 km/h too fast, you pay 20 to 30 euros. You can currently get a speed camera detector from Amazon for less than 20 euros. But is it worth buying? Warnings about speed traps are forbidden, but not about accidents, traffic jams, construction sites and dangers. We took a closer look at the offer.

Many drivers swear by speed camera detectors
In addition to the popular Blitzer.de app (to download at CHIP.de) there are now also devices for Speed limit warning. These usually access the Data from Blitzer.de back, but also form a kind of network among themselves via the manufacturer’s app. The big advantage: In contrast to the pure software solution, the hardware does not have to be activated before each trip, but connects automatically via when you get into the car Bluetooth with the smartphone and is immediately ready for use.

This is what you should know about speed camera detectors
Speed camera detectors are banned in Germany. From a practical point of view, the use of such a device – be it the OOONO Co-Driver No1 or the Drive One – is more of a gray area. Finally, it also warns danger spots such as construction sites, traffic jams or accidents. This makes it difficult for the police to prove that you are using it to warn you about speed traps.
Nevertheless, if you are caught doing so, you face a fine of 75 euros and a point in the driving aptitude register in Flensburg. The same applies if you use the app and the police catch you doing it. Other passengers in the vehicle are also not allowed to use speed camera detectors, as the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court ruled in December 2022 (lawyer clarifies).
Manufacturer also offers digital parking discs
The Drive One speed camera detector is on the
Amazon product page not only offered individually, but also in a bundle with digital parking discs or parking meters from the same company. At the current promotional price, however, it is worth buying them separately if required. For example, the Needit Park Lite model costs
at Amazon standard 24.99 euros.
Contrary to speed camera alert owns the parking meter one official approval of the Federal Motor Transport Authority (ECE approval no. E1 10R – 047203). The parking time is set automatically when the vehicle is at a standstill and only continues when the car starts moving again.
