The incident was reported to the Berlin police this morning as damage to property. State security is now also investigating.
Chialo has been under police protection for some time. In mid-September, the Senator for Culture was openly attacked by a group of around 40 people at the reopening of the Center for Art and Urbanism (ZK/U) while chanting pro-Palestinian slogans. The police had to intervene.
Chialo later told “Spiegel” that he noticed a mood that was becoming increasingly “aggressive”: “It seems to be all about radical leftists and self-proclaimed supporters of Hamas displaying their one-sided and distorted worldview without considering the consequences.”
