Motorists swear by speed camera detectors

What you should know about speed camera detectors
Speed camera detectors are banned in Germany and many other countries. From a practical point of view, the use of such a device – be it the Ooono Co-Driver No1 or the Drive One – falls into a gray area. After all, it also gives a (legal) warning danger spots such as construction sites, traffic jams, black ice or accidents. In this respect, it will be difficult for the police to prove that you are using it without permission to warn of speed traps without concrete suspicion.
Nevertheless, if you are caught doing so, you face a fine of 75 euros and a point in the driving aptitude register in Flensburg. The same applies if you use the app and the police catch you doing it. Other passengers in the vehicle are also not allowed to use speed camera detectors, as the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court ruled in December 2022 (lawyer clarifies). If you want to use the small device in accordance with the law, you have to use the corresponding smartphone app Disable speed camera alarm.
