Alex Jones has called the mass murder at Sandy Hook Elementary School a fabrication. His fans hate the families of the children who were killed online. Jones is expected to pay a $965 million fine. He just makes fun of it.
SIt looks like the good guys just won the Infowars,” said late-night talker Jimmy Kimmel about the verdict against conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, who has been spreading abstruse theses on his “Infowars” channel for almost ten years – including the allegation that the school shooting at a Sandy Hook elementary school never happened and was staged by “crisis actors” to discredit Americans’ gun rights. Twenty children and seven adults died in a hail of bullets in December 2012.
After a court in Texas ordered Jones and his company Free Speech Systems to pay more than $49 million in damages for his false claims in August, a further $965 million in fines have now followed, imposed by a Connecticut court (FAZ from October 14). Jones is said to be paying the sum to eight families of students who died in the massacre and one emergency responder, who have faced hostilities and death threats as a result of his lies.
