Quit smoking: €2,000 every year: This calculator shows how much you could save
Depending on how many cigarettes you smoke a day, you could afford a nice holiday for two every year – or other nice things. The Smoking Savings Calculator will give you a feel for how much money you are literally burning.
It should be clear to everyone by now that smoking is bad for your health. And nicotine consumption is not exactly cheap either: 32 cents per cigarette may sound like little at first, but if you smoke 10 or even 20 cigarettes a day, you burn a lot of money.
To better illustrate this, the Federal Government Commissioner for Addiction and Drug Issues has developed a practical savings calculator. This shows you what you could afford if you stopped smoking.
Partly 2,000 euros per year possible
On the nutzedeinechance.de page, all you have to do is state how many cigarettes you smoke a day – be honest with yourself. According to a Statista survey from April 2022, around 53% of Germans smoke 11 or more cigarettes a day.
In the second point you indicate how much money you want to save. The calculator immediately spits out how long you would have to live smoke-free in order to reach the savings goal. Here are some examples:
-
11 cigarettes a day:
100 euros savings in just one month is enough for almost 6 months with a streaming provider -
20 cigarettes a day:
2,330 euros savings in one year, enough for a new QLED television or a vacation -
30 cigarettes a day:
A saving of 5,000 euros in around 18 months is enough for a new fitted kitchen
As you can see, the old adage holds true: “Small animals make a mess too.”
Use offers of help to quit
In addition to the savings, you should of course also think about your health. That’s why every day is a good day to quit smoking.
Under the practical calculator you will therefore find further offers of help that can help you on this difficult path:
-
