Ldear reader, hoping is expecting, wishing, planning, longing for something important. We wouldn’t go on dates, go on vacations, or go to work unless we hoped it would be good for us. We wouldn’t read what we read if we didn’t hope to become smarter, to understand the world better, but also to make better decisions in everyday life. We can see that as we end the year by looking at the pieces that have been most appreciated by you, our most loyal readers, over the past twelve months. Appreciated in the literal sense, by the way, because most of the new F+ readers came to us through them, for which we are very grateful. And we hope that you will also like our offer in the new year, we are already planning for that.
Not all, but many people put energy into the question of what is the best thing to eat. Texts dealing with a healthy diet were discussed intensively – and this was most true of the piece entitled “Oat milk should not be drunk”. The interview is with Jessie Inchauspé, who worked at a health technology company in Silicon Valley and used a continuous glucose monitoring device there a differentiated examination of the question of how to avoid glucose spikes. It’s all about the blood sugar roller coaster, and oat milk seems to play a big part in that. Apparently this came as a surprise to many of you, including us. We never expected to have published the bestseller of the year with it.
Hopes or expectations are also traded on the stock exchange, some see higher prices, in any case such reasons motivate people to invest in the stock market. Many dreams did not come true there this year. And so it didn’t surprise us that much a piece that deals with the valuation of stocks, also made it into the top ten F+ tracks. Daniel Mohr writes about dividends and the price/earnings ratio. One could speak of basic knowledge for investors, but this information is certainly helpful for making better decisions in everyday stock market trading.
And then there is life itself that people are interested in. The role of the father in developmental psychology has long been neglected. He has a special effect on his daughter in particular – and has a great influence on her self-image and even her career aspirations. Franziska Proell wrote a text about it that should not only have interested fathers. Yet Supporting daughters in their autonomy is a central function of the father. “I can’t do it”, “I don’t dare” – statements like these are often not accepted. “Fathers convey: ‘You can do it, be self-confident!'” What a nice attitude for the coming year, actually for everyone.
Best wishes, health and happiness to you for 2023,
many Greetings
Yours, Carsten Knop
