Ldear reader, a survey found that more than a third of men in Germany under 35 years of age violence against women OK. Is that so? Media and politics eat the bait and sound the alarm. Here is the Questioning full of flaws. Michael Hanfeld took a closer look: The basis is a sample from an existing online community, self-recruitment by the respondents, combined with financial rewards. Is that representative? Contradiction comes from the occupational scene of professional pollsters.
The Council of German Market and Social Research, which monitors compliance with professional principles and codes of ethics, states in paragraph 2 of the guidelines for online surveys: “The self-recruitment of the respondents is generally not suitableto ensure survey results that can be generalized for the entire population.” The organization behind the survey, namely Plan International, is pursuing noble goals, writes Hanfeld. Such a survey does not help the fight for women’s rights and against violence against women. She is grist to the mill of those who think the problem doesn’t exist. But there is, the crime statistics show it.
It has long been known that sport is good for the psyche. It’s not a miracle cure, but anyone who does sports knows that you usually feel better afterwards. How exactly does this work? Can sport support the therapeutic treatment of mental illnesses? Sports editor Stefanie Sippel is trying to answer this question and has spoken to experts: “It has been proven that sport can have a similarly potent effect on depression as medication,” says Philipp Zimmer, who heads the Performance and Health department at TU Dortmund University. One can orient oneself to the specifications of the World Health Organization (WHO). They recommend 150 to 300 minutes of moderate or 75 to 150 minutes of more intensive endurance sports and strength training twice a week.
9 out of 10 major cities have critical security vulnerabilities, Board members are affected by an average of 16 data leaks: The Schwarz Group has unleashed hackers on Germany’s largest companies and cities as a test. The airports are the best. 37.1 percent have a relevant weakness. Those responsible for the study explain that the cities perform the worst with the available resources. The salary structure there is not very flexible, which makes it less attractive for well-trained people.
Cybersecurity professionals are rare, according to Schwarz Digital, there is a lack of 104,000 experts in Germany alone. According to this, 464,000 cyber security specialists are currently working in Germany. The lack of personnel also explains why the ethical hackers found critical vulnerabilities from 2002 and 2008, some of which were not addressed. In addition, companies often use outdated encryption methods that cybercriminals can use to gain access to sensitive data.
