The Stiftung Warentest checks 25 antivirus programs – including free variants. Read some with top grade, read here.
In an investigation by the “Stiftung Warentest”, 25 antivirus programs had to demonstrate their protective effect. The test report shows that some free programs can do as well as paid programs.
Especially “Bitdefender”, “Antivirus Free” and “Avira Internet Security” convinced in the test. Microsoft Defender, on the other hand, landed in the last place.
Virus scanner test: Additional functions convince with paid versions
In addition to the protective effect, the test also evaluated usability and advertisements. Five free programs cut off very well, while some paid programs offer additional functions. For MacOS users, “G Data” is recommended for 40 euros a year. The test advises against the exclusive use of the Microsoft Defender and recommends additional programs for better protection.
The virus scanner test put Microsoft Defender in the last place. Users are advised to secure additional protection programs.
