Did you know that it’s physically impossible to get the same degree of muscularity as bodybuilders without the use of steroids or other growth-enhancing drugs?
Most, if not all, professional bodybuilders utilize steroids and supplements to pack on mass and lean muscle.
Steroids have a bad reputation for their negative side effects and use of needle injections. SARMs are growing in popularity because they have the potential to provide the same benefits as steroids without unwanted side effects.
Keep reading to learn more about RAD-140 SARMs.
What Are SARMs?
Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARMs) are anabolic compounds used in place of anabolic steroids. The idea of SARMs is to mimic the muscle-building effects of anabolic steroids without the side effects.
SARMs are still being studied for a variety of conditions and uses. For example, SARMs are being studied as a potential treatment for the following:
- Multiple sclerosis
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Sexual dysfunction
- Osteoporosis
- Cancer
- Cachexia (muscle wasting)
Currently, only anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) are effective in treating these conditions and have approval from the FDA.
SARMs are not yet FDA-approved because the activation and tissue selectivity are not fully understood. Until more human trials exist, SARMs can only be legally sold as research chemicals.
Even so, SARMs are popular within the bodybuilding community because individuals believe that they are safer than steroids. More research is necessary to confirm or deny this hypothesis.
Although created to eliminate unpleasant side effects that occur when individuals take steroids, it’s possible for SARMs to still cause these side effects.
What Is RAD-140?
SARMs RAD-140, also known as testolone, is an investigational drug becoming popular among bodybuilders that claim it has muscle-building effects. RAD-140 is just one of the many different types of SARMs.
RAD-140, like other SARMs, binds to androgen receptors found in different areas of the body. SARMs work on the same receptor as testosterone.
RAD-140 mimics testosterone, but mainly targets muscles. Some believe that it can reduce side effects felt when taking testosterone or other steroids.
Potential Benefits of SARMs RAD-140
There are a lot of potential benefits of SARMs, but there is a lot of research required before any factual claims can be made. These are all possible benefits of RAD-140:
Increased Muscle Mass
SARMs of any kind are not approved for human consumption, but they are not illegal to own or sell. Third-party websites that sell RAD-140 will list it as a research chemical, but some individuals take it at their own discretion.
RAD-140 has uses in the bodybuilding community for its possible muscle-building effects.
Much like other SARMs, researchers believe that RAD-140 can increase muscle growth without the unwanted side effects that come with taking conventional steroids.
Despite its popularity of use, there is little scientific evidence behind RAD-140 and its muscle-building properties. Human studies of RAD-140 have not occurred yet.
Breast Cancer
Researchers are investigating the benefits of RAD-140 for its potential action against breast cancer.
Androgen and estrogen receptor-positive (AR/ER+) is a common form of breast cancer sensitive to hormones. SARMs might affect these receptors and fight cancer.
A cell study showed that RAD-140 stopped the growth of AR/ER+ breast cancer by blocking estrogen effects. This SARM appears to suppress the ESR1 gene responsible for creating estrogen receptors.
Brain Effects
Androgens can protect the brain by increasing brain cell growth, decreasing amyloid-beta accumulation, and improving memory. The accumulation of amyloid-beta accumulation is the main cause of Alzheimer’s disease.
Studies on rats have shown that RAD-140 might protect brain nerves against injury caused by amyloid-beta plaques. This study also showed that RAD-140 and testosterone were effective at protecting against neurotoxins.
Since there are no studies on humans yet, a lot of the claims that individuals make about the brain effects of SARMs cannot be backed up.
For instance, some users report sleeping better when taking RAD-140. Some also say that the SARM has enhanced their sexual performance.
Weight Loss
Bodybuilders are always looking to shed fat and gain muscle. This is why SARMs are becoming popular in the community. Some athletes believe that RAD-140 increases muscle mass and reduces body fat.
The effect of body fat is unclear based on the completed animal testing. However, at least one study has found that RAD-140 increases lean muscle. The same study also found that the SARM improves cholesterol levels.
A higher muscle mass can increase energy and promote fat loss. These factors are general and not based on clinical studies of SARMs.
There is no evidence that RAD-140 promotes weight loss, but this is a possible benefit that we might be made aware of as more studies come out.
Social Acceptance
There is less of a social stigma around SARMs compared to anabolic steroids. Despite not being sold for human use, the side effects from SARMs are supposedly less severe.
Even being sold as only a research compound, SARMs are becoming more accepted than steroids. This has a lot to do with the possible prevention of harsh side effects, but it also helps that SARMs aren’t injected.
RAD-140, like most SARMs, is administered orally or as a liquid. This eliminates the risk of using contaminated needles or an improper injection technique that could cause paralysis.
SARMs Limitations
In this SARMs guide, you’ve learned that RAD-140 benefits have yet to be explored in humans. The studies referred to above were tests on rats, monkeys, and cells.
Athletes use this supplement despite knowing there is limited information out there. The long-term benefits and risks of RAD-140 in humans are unknown.
RAD-140, along with all other SARMs, are banned in professional sports by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). There are methods to detect RAD-140 in the body. A positive drug test can disqualify athletes from competition.
If you are still interested in purchasing RAD-140, there are some SARMs tips for buying to know. When purchasing products online, make sure the products you choose actually contain SARMs.
There are companies out there looking to pull a fast one and make money by advertising a product as SARMs when it’s actually a knockoff.
Side Effects and Risks of SARMs RAD-140
The safety and side effects of RAD-140 have not been clinically evaluated yet because it is a new investigational substance.
Based on how SARMs are supposed to work, RAD-140 should cause fewer side effects than testosterone, but this is not proven. RAD-140 has the potential to cause the same side effects as testosterone, including:
- Breast tenderness and growth in men
- Changes in sex drive
- Nausea and vomiting
- Abnormal body hair growth in women
- Male pattern baldness and hair loss
- Mood swings, anxiety, and depression
Hair loss is a common side effect that bodybuilders who take RAD-140 experience. Once they stop taking this SARM, the side effect is reversed.
RU58841 is an anti-androgen that can block DHT from reaching scalp hair receptors. It may help individuals struggling with hair minimization from SARMs and other conditions.
Testosterone Suppression and Estrogen Effects
SARMs can suppress the body’s natural testosterone production and slightly raise estradiol.
Some RAD-140 users claim that the SARM doesn’t shut down testosterone production or aromatize estrogen, but there are no studies to back this up. Additionally, some user reviews suggest the opposite.
RAD-140 has the potential to cause testosterone suppression and estrogen buildup. This can lead to unwanted side effects like tiredness, depression, and decreased sex drive.
The degree of estrogen-like or suppression effects can vary from user to user. Some users are more sensitive to the symptoms while others might not feel the impact at all.
Higher doses and elongated use of a substance will increase the risk of unwanted side effects. Out of the most popular SARMs, this is how they rank from most testosterone suppressive to least suppressive:
- LGD-4033 (Ligandrol)
- RAD-140 (Testolone)
- S4 (Andarine)
- MK-2866 (Ostarine)
As you can see, from what we know about RAD-140, it is up there as one of the most suppressive SARMs. RAD-140 is potent. The more potent the SARM, the more suppressive it is.
Some RAD-140 users recommend Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) to restore hormone levels after completing a SARMs cycle.
Prostate Risks
Testosterone is known to have a negative effect on the prostate. Testosterone enlarges the prostate and can increase the risk of prostate cancer.
Since SARMs are supposed to be selective in the area of the body that they affect, there should be no worry about the prostate, but we don’t know this for sure.
Based on the minimal research currently out there about RAD-140, it doesn’t seem to increase the size of the prostate. Full-scale clinical studies on humans might find that RAD-140 has adverse effects on the prostate.
RAD-140 Dosage
You can experience the possible benefits of SARMs uses with the right dosage. However, there is no set dose for RAD-140 because it hasn’t been studied in humans.
A safe dosage doesn’t technically exist until clinical studies officially explore this SARM.
Resources in the bodybuilding community take average doses between 10 and 30mg per day for men. For women, the average is between 5 and 10mg per day.
Users cycle RAD-140 for eight to 12 weeks. The off-cycle varies based on the individual. Some recommend an off-cycle as long as the on-cycle, while others believe a 6-8 week short cycle is sufficient enough.
Stacking
To increase results and speed up the muscle-building process, some bodybuilders will stack RAD-140 with other SARMs or steroids.
For recovery, users stack RAD-140 with ostarine. For endurance gains or cutting, RAD-140 is stacked with cardarine. Some users even stack RAD-140 with conventional steroids like Primobolan.
These drugs are unapproved so stacking can be very dangerous. There aren’t any complete safety profiles of any of these drugs.
RAD-140 vs. Ostarine
Ostarine, also referred to as Enobosarm, is a type of SARM that has been tested, very limited, on humans. A clinical trial studied the ability of ostarine to prevent drastic weight loss from a severe illness.
Without high-quality clinical studies on this SARM, it’s unknown the full effects on the prostate and reproductive organs.
Ostarine might prevent weight loss while RAD-140 might increase muscle mass. This is why the combination is common for stacking.
Post-Cycle Therapy
Post-cycle therapy (PCT) can help your body recover after a SARMs cycle. SARMs and steroids can suppress the body’s ability to make testosterone. Experienced users recommend PCT after each RAD-140 cycle.
PCT can involve different supplements that help restore hormone levels. In addition to getting over-the-counter testosterone supplements, Nolvadex and Clomid are commonly used for PCT.
Users will continue PCT for up to four weeks, but the length of this therapy will depend on how long an individual has been using a SARM.
If a SARM cycle suppressed your body’s natural testosterone production, it’s necessary to complete PCT. The only way to see how your testosterone was affected during a cycle is by getting blood work.
Blood work will assess the damage to the HPT (hypothalamic-pituitary-testicular) axis.
Are SARMs Right for You?
SARMs of any kind, including RAD-140, are not legally sold for human consumption. They are legal when they get advertised as research chemicals.
Still, individuals, many in the bodybuilding community, take RAD-140 and other SARMs to lose fat and gain muscle. Since studies are still being completed, there is no evidence that these benefits are real.
If you choose to take RAD-140, it’s important to know the facts. Studies are still ongoing and this SARM specifically has had no human trials.
