This chip can be linked to a credit card number. The credit card is virtual and part of the VIMpay app, which you can easily control via your smartphone. How to activate your PAGO ring:

1. Install the “VIMpay” app on your smartphone, set up an account and create two virtual credit cards: After opening an account, VIMPay automatically generates a virtual credit card for you. This is your main account to which you later transfer money. In the Lite version you can use VIMPay completely free of charge and top up the ring with 50 euros each. If you want to top up more credit, you pay a small annual fee.
   Then select the provider “Pagopace” in the app under “Store” in the Wearables area. A second account with a black background will then appear in the app. There is now a second virtual credit card with its own number. You will need this number for step two.

2. Wait for the order confirmation from Pagopace and enter the VIMpay credit card data: Pagopace will send you an order confirmation. This contains a link to a Pagopace website created especially for you. There you enter the credit card data once (card number, security code CVC, expiry date) so that Pagopace can connect you to the ring.
3. Pagopace connects the ring to your virtual credit card and sends the ring to you: To activate, simply scan the barcode that came with the ring, confirm your email address and receive the activation code via SMS on your cell phone. Then just enter the SMS code in the VIMpay app and the eye-catcher is ready to use!

“Due to the fact that the ring works solely on a credit basis, it is not possible to spend more money than I previously loaded on it.

The payment itself is only possible if the ring is held at a very specific angle to the reader and the distance is no more than three centimetres. It is therefore practically impossible for someone to debit money in passing, so to speak. That doesn’t happen to us with contactless credit and debit cards either. It’s the same technology. The credit card number is also encrypted during transmission so that it cannot be intercepted.

And if I ever lose the ring, I can switch off the virtual credit card directly via my cell phone at any time – I don’t even have to contact Pagopace for this, I can do it myself. As soon as I deactivate the credit card or set the balance to zero, the account no longer works.”
