Fantasy football game Sorare may soon sign a multi-year deal with the Premier League to tokenize its players as non-fungible tokens (NFTs). A colossal contract which would amount to 34.7 million dollars per year.
Sorare on the verge of signing with the Premier League?
According to British media Sky News, the Premier Leaguethe largest football organization in the UK, reportedly in talks with blockchain startup Sorare for an annual contract worth $34.7 million.
The deal reportedly includes a multi-year contract for Sorare to be allowed to release static images of players from all 20 clubs in the organization in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
According to Sky News, if the Premier League really gets closer to Sorare, this will sign the immediate halt of a project initially planned with the American company ConsenSysthe originator of the MetaMask wallet.
ConsenSys allegedly tried to renegotiate its contract at a lower price, justifying itself by the fall in the valuation and volume of NFTs. Sky News sources report that Sorare would then have offered a more profitable contract than the revised ConsenSys proposal, which unsurprisingly would have affected the value of the French company.
Thus, if the contract is signed, Sorare will be able to distribute NFTs bearing the image of players from Premier League clubs on its fantasy football platform.

The battle is not over for Sorare
The Premier League, which seems to have definitively put ConsenSys aside, could still turn to another player and not the least: Dapper Labs.
This American company is, like Sorare, specialized in the development of games and tools for non-fungible tokens, in particular with its NBA Top Shots platform and its Flow blockchain.
Despite the presence of Dapper Labs, it seems more likely to us that the Premier League will turn to Sorare instead. Although how much Dapper Labs would be willing to spend hasn’t been revealed, Sorare has a bigger punch with football fans, especially in Europe.
At the same time, the community of blockchain games developed by Dapper Labs is more concentrated in the United States and is significantly less receptive to English football compared to the European community.
We should know more about the conclusion of this colossal agreement in a few weeks.
