From January to November, Spotify collects data for its annual review. The review can be seen and heard every year at the end of November and beginning of December. In recent years there has been a recognizable pattern: in 2022 and 2023 the release was on November 30th, in 2020 and 2021 on December 1st. In 2024, Spotify will publish its annual review on December 4th.
2024 Wrapped: These songs count in the Spotify annual review
If a song runs for longer than 30 seconds, it is included in the statistics. Music that was previously skipped is ignored. But: It cannot be distinguished whether you are actively listening or whether you are playing Spotify on a continuous loop or while you fall asleep and both are taken into account in the rating.
Content other than music, such as podcasts, is also evaluated and is not neglected in retrospect.
2024 Wrapped: This is what you can see in Spotify's annual review
- Best of 2024 playlist: Spotify automatically creates a personalized playlist of your most listened to songs of the year. You can save this playlist and listen to it all year round.
- Most Listened Songs: Spotify presents you a list of your top 5 songs of the year. These are often shown in an attractive visual representation that includes the number of streams for each song. This way you can see which songs you have repeated most often.
- Favorite artists: You will receive an overview of your top 5 artists of the year. This often includes how many minutes you spent listening to each artist. Additionally, Spotify shows what percentage of an artist's top fans you fall into.
- Favorite genres and new music discoveries: Spotify analyzes your listening habits and shows you the music genres you've listened to the most. It also highlights new genres or artists that you discovered over the course of the year.
- Total listening time on Spotify: Find out how many minutes you listened to music on Spotify in total in 2024. This number is often put into an interesting context, such as how many days this corresponds to.
- Personal “Sound Town”: Spotify assigns your music taste to a city where many people listen to similar music to you. This can reveal surprising connections to places around the world.
- Individual Music Personality Type: Based on your listening habits, Spotify assigns you one of several personality types. These can have creative names and provide insight into your musical preferences.
- Personal Message from Top Artist or Favorite Artist: In some cases, the Wrapped will include a short audio or video message from one of your most listened to artists, adding a nice personal touch.
How to watch Spotify Wrapped 2024 on smartphone
- Open the Spotify app on your Android smartphone or on your iPhone or iPad.
- A red-pink colored area “It’s time for your 2024 Wrapped” appears directly on the Spotify homepage. If you don't see this, you don't have the latest Spotify version installed yet.
- Just click on the area and you will be taken to your individual Spotify annual review.
By the way: If you would like to view your personal Spotify annual review, you do not have to be a paying user of the music platform. Even if you use Spotify's ad-supported model, you can still view your annual review. As long as you have an account, you can use the function.
