Even after her retirement, the ethnologist Susanne Schröter can continue to work at the University of Frankfurt: the university council has approved her application for a research professorship. She is to help set up the Transfer and Competence Center for Islam.
Dhe ethnologist Susanne Schröter will be given a research professorship at Goethe University after her retirement on October 1st. The University Council approved the scientist’s application, as the university announced on Monday. The “Goethe Research Professorship” is initially limited to two years and is endowed with at least 12,000 euros per year plus material costs.
In her future role, Schröter will be involved in setting up the Transfer and Competence Center for Islam at the University of Frankfurt. Existing institutions will be brought together under its roof, including Schröter’s Research Center for Global Islam. The University of Giessen will also be involved in the competence center.
According to the Goethe University, in order for the research professorship to be approved, Schröter had to submit four letters of reference from international experts who were selected according to the criteria of the German Research Foundation.
