Root Canal Row
On 28 May 2022, Swathi went through a root canal surgery in a private hospital named Oryx Dental Multispecialty Hospital. After the surgery, her face puffed up, on asked about her condition the doctor replied that the swelling will fade away in two to three days but, even after twenty days the condition of her face is not getting any better. According to some sources, they injected salicylic acid into her body instead of anaesthesia. She is blaming the hospital for giving her the wrong treatment. She also shared that the hospital did not share complete information about the treatment with her. When she posted the picture of her swollen face on social media, her photo went viral. In a recent interview about the controversy, she revealed,
When I consulted another dentist for a second opinion, this is what I found out. The dentist who did my root canal procedure first injected me with sodium hypochlorite at which point I screamed and started crying because it was extremely painful. Later, she injected anaesthesia. According to other doctors, it should’ve been done the other way around. The anaesthesia goes first and then the sodium hypochlorite.”
