Swiss Post opens up to cryptocurrencies
PostFinance, the financial institution of the Swiss Post, has partnered with Sygnum, one of the first crypto-banks (also Swiss), in order to to offer various services relating to cryptocurrencies to its customers. These services will include, among other things, the purchase, sale and storage of different cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) or Ether (ETH).
To do this, PostFinance will operate Sygnum’s independent B2B platform in order to offer services that comply with local banking regulations while meeting the demand of its customers, who have requested such an offer, according to the press release. PostFinance thus joins around fifteen establishments already served by Sygnum.
According to Philip MerktChief Investment Officer at PostFinance, a bank must now be able to meet this kind of need for its customers:
“Digital assets have become an integral part of the financial world and our customers want access to this market through PostFinance, their trusted primary bank. It is more important than ever to be able to count on a reputable and established partner like Banque Sygnum, which offers an excellent service offer. »
A spirit also shared by Fritz JostChief B2B Officer at Sygnum:
“We are pleased to enable PostFinance to offer its customers institutional-grade digital asset services. We are committed to pursuing innovation and positive change for the industry and the customers of our partner banks. »
A new proof of institutional interest in digital assets, which could however contrast with the French vision of the thing, the president of Crédit Mutuel having recently declared that supporting cryptocurrencies amounts to “ support russian militias Wagner “.
