After multiple twists and turns each time contradicting previous announcements, Do Kwon will be extradited to the United States. Is it definitive? We take stock.
Do Kwon to be extradited to the United States
It’s a case that would have looked like a bad sketch. Since his arrest in Montenegro in March 2023 in possession of false identity documents, Do Kwon, the founder of the Terra Ecosystem (LUNA), struggled with whether he would be extradited to the United States or South Korea to answer for his actions regarding the fall of the UST.
Announcement after announcement, the two jurisdictions were granted this extradition, after a twist reshuffled the cards each time. This week, Do Kwon saw his appeal to the country's Constitutional Court unanimously rejected. This thus opened the way to a final decision.
On Friday, the Department of Justice therefore joined the opinion of the Supreme Court which considered that all the legal conditions for extradition were met and tipped the balance to the American side.
Bojan Bozovic, the Minister of Justice of Montenegro, signed an executive order allowing the founder of Terra to be sent to the United Statesthereby rejecting South Korea's request.

Once the person concerned arrives on American soil, he will then have to answer to several charges, in particular to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Until then, we will see if other twists and turns disrupt the process again.
