Dhe tower construction in Frankfurt is far from complete, and numerous high-rise projects are still in the pipeline. Not everyone will be able to have something from everyone, but this one, which is already there, is open to everyone at the top, or at least: to everyone who wants to go out. The newest of Frankfurt’s hotels, the Nhow, is in close proximity to the Kap Europa convention center and the Skyline Plaza shopping mall. With 375 rooms, it occupies 14 floors of a new high-rise building with the project name One-Tower. The lobby of the building with bar and coffee bar is used by the hotel, as well as the “Skybar” on the 47th floor, at a height of almost 190 meters. The view is captivating. The interior is whimsical and colorful as is everywhere else, the drinks are okay, and the small plates that are served are outstanding (tip: the pulled pork, tomato, and cilantro tacos). The later the evening, the more popular the bar is, and the longer the waiting time in front of the elevators that take you upstairs. When it’s full, it’s full, and the next ones don’t have a chance again until someone has gone down. (Brüsseler Strasse 1-3, telephone 0 69/17 08 50, Internet: www.nft-skybar.com.
It was a surprise when the restaurant in Frankfurt’s Main Tower was presented at the presentation of the current Michelin Guide in March and awarded one star. Chef Martin Weghofer was only 24 at the time of the award, which is remarkable even considering how young one can start an apprenticeship. The restaurant guide praised the culinary fusion of Asian, regional and typical luxury elements. (Neue Mainzer Straße 52-58, Frankfurt, telephone: 0 69/36 50 47 77, www.maintower-restaurant.de).
