There is a threat of empty shelves: Edeka is arguing with the manufacturer Procter & Gambel about price increases
Once again, Edeka is in dispute with a major manufacturer. Procter & Gambel, which is behind brands like Oral-B and Pampers, wants more money for its products, which Edeka refuses.
Edeka customers will probably have to adjust to gaps on the shelves again. The supermarket chain is once again arguing with a supplier about price increases. This time it affects Procter & Gambel, as reported by the “Lebensmittel Zeitung”.
P&G is behind numerous brands such as Pampers, Gillette, Oral-B, Ariel, Swiffer and Meister Proper. Apparently, the manufacturer Edeka is currently only making limited deliveries, which is why the first products are already becoming scarce in some markets.
P&G had previously held back on price increases
P&G had so far held back with price increases. This was probably intended to increase their own market share. However, increases in list prices are now considered “necessary”.
According to industry insiders, these are relatively severe. There is talk of up to 40 percent. But P&G is not an isolated case. Competitors such as Henkel and L’Oreal have also suspended deliveries to dealers this year due to price disagreements.
