Thomson Computing, a French IT company based in Pontault-Combault in Seine-et-Marne, has set itself a major challenge: to be the first company in the world to offer a laptop entirely dedicated to Web3. And to achieve this, Metavisio, its parent company, wants to work harder.
Thomson Computing works to design a laptop entirely dedicated to Web3
In the near future, Thomson Computinga subsidiary of the IT company Metavisio, will offer a new connected device which she presents as “ the first Web3 laptop in history ».
Among the functionalities included in the computer designed by Thomson Computing, we will find in particular an integrated cold wallet which will support several networks like Ethereum, Bitcoin, Bittensor, or even XRP Ledger. In the future, the company hopes to add more networks.
🔑 What is a cold wallet and why is it interesting to have one to secure your cryptocurrencies?
This computer will rely on an operating system called “Web3 OS”. Everything will be done so that its users can use or develop decentralized applications (dApps), or buy and sell cryptocurrencies through the cold wallet.
Along with the release of its computers, Metavisio plans to launch a cryptocurrency. People wishing to receive tokens will have to comply with the “Know Your Customer” (KYC) procedure to verify their identity. For the moment, we do not know on which blockchain this crypto would be based.
These tokens will notably allow to reward the owners of its devices for carrying out specific tasks. For now, no further details have been provided regarding the features of this laptop.

Metavisio took the lead in designing this device in the best conditions
We still know that the company plans to decline the device in several models whose functionality and performance will be different. Thus, the prices announced by Thomson Computing are as follows: 499 euros for the most basic model with the “lowest” performance, up to 2,000 euros for the most efficient and advanced model.
Also, the computers can be configured in 3 different ways so that they are adapted for educational, recreational use (for gamers), or for office use. Each of them will have a secure chipset thanks to a system equivalent to the Secure Enclave offered by Apple in its devices.
👉 Everything you need to know about web3, a decentralized vision of the internet
To design these devices, Metavisio has given itself the means. Earlier this year, Thomson Computing's parent company managed to obtain financing of 50 million euros in the form of a Simple Agreement for Future Equity (SAFE).
In this regard, the investor, here American AI and Hardware Investments, will have the right to purchase shares of the company at a later dateparticularly if the company raises additional funds or enters into a deal.
In parallel, Thomson Computing has joined forces with IO FinNetan American company specializing in Web3. The two partner entities will create a joint venture in France and the Metavisio subsidiary will be able to count on the know-how of the American company to develop his new laptop.
