While Ubisoft and Aleph.im have been collaborating for several years, this trust was renewed on the occasion of the developer's new Web3 video game. What is this partnership about?
Ubisoft taps Aleph.im technology for new video game
This week, Video game giant Ubisoft has announced a partnership with Aleph.imregarding its new Web3 game: Champions Tactics Grimoria Chronicles.
This game is built on HOME Verse, a network based on Oasis technology, a blockchain dedicated to Web3 gaming. It is a “player versus player” game in which the aim is to build a team of champions, represented by cards in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

It is therefore especially for its NFTs that Aleph.im intervenes. Indeed, their metadata must be stored on its decentralized storage solution Twentysix Cloud.
Jonathan Schemoul, CEO of Twentysix Cloud and Aleph.im, spoke about this collaboration:
We are excited to partner with Ubisoft on Champions Tactics, leveraging our decentralized cloud infrastructure. This collaboration showcases the potential of Web3 for secure, transparent, and scalable gaming. With Aleph.im’s solutions, we ensure advanced data storage and fair minting processes, helping Ubisoft deliver the next generation of gaming.

This partnership is therefore a continuation of a collaboration that had already started in 2021, when Ubisoft started operating nodes on Aleph.im.
While the developer has also been using Aleph.im's technology for its NFT metadata on its Ubisoft Quartz platform, the partnership will be taken even further this time around, as Jean Schmitt, lead developer at Ubisoft's Strategic Innovation Lab, explains:
“That’s why we decided to use them also for our upcoming game Champions Tactics, where we will store more advanced gameplay metadata and we will also use the new feature called Aleph.im VRF to make a fair draw of our initial set of champions.”

On several occasions, the video game developer showed interest in Web3 technologies. While NFT collections designed for this purpose have largely lost popularity over the past 2 years, we will see to what extent Champions Tactics manages or fails to convince its audience.
