In Duisburg, more than two dozen secondary schools have been closed on Monday due to an “unclear threat situation”. Around 18,000 pupils of 15 total and two secondary schools had to stay at home and should instead participate in the digital distance lessons. Three high schools that are near one of the school mentioned in a threatening email were also closed on Monday. The police showed more presence at the school locations.
Already on Friday, the school management of the Mitte comprehensive school in Duisburg received an email with “threatening, right-wing radical statements”. The anonymous sender also announced crimes in the educational institution for Monday, the police said. On Sunday, the Mitte comprehensive school reached another, largely word -level email, in which threats were now also spoken against 13 other secondary schools.
Experts of the Duisburg state security came to the assessment “as part of the overall view” “that it cannot be assumed to be serious about the announced acts,” said the police. Nevertheless, the Düsseldorf district government decided to keep schools closed as the responsible supervisory authority “for reasons of extreme caution and for the extensive protection of pupils, students, teachers and all those involved in school life” on Monday.
“Totally surprised by this action”
The police were irritated by the police. From security circles it was said that one was “totally surprised by this campaign”. There are always those of state protection experts as not seriously classified threats. It is to be feared that because of the broad reporting in the Duisburg case, free -riders will now be encouraged to become similar threats.
Most recently, after the attack of the terrorist organization Hamas on Israel in October 2023, numerous anonymous threats against various public facilities such as dishes and schools in Germany occurred. At that time, one of the running riders – a 45 -year age for drug offenses from well -known Germans – could be identified in North Rhine -Westphalia.
In the current Duisburg case, according to information from the FAZ, the authorities have now found out which server the threatening emails were used to use. Meanwhile, the district government announced that the affected Duisburg schools are expected to be reopened again this Tuesday.
