Ron DeSantis, the current Governor of Florida, has just announced his candidacy for President of the United States. And he made cryptocurrencies a campaign issue. What does he foresee?
Ron DeSantis makes Bitcoin (BTC) a campaign issue

Yesterday, Ron DeSantis concluded his announcement by several remarks concerning Bitcoin (BTC) and cryptocurrencies in general. He thus promised to protect the sector:

Joe Biden’s pro-cryptos counterpart?
Ron DeSantis fits like this in clear opposition to current Democratic President Joe Biden, whose government is increasingly regulating the cryptocurrency sector. It is also an ideology often developed within republican circles, with fierce opposition to governments that are too present. A point recalled by the Governor of Florida in his speech:
“The only reason the people of Washington don’t like [le Bitcoin], is that they can’t control it.»
Since the FTX affair, the current US government and regulators including the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), have shown great hostility to the sector. Historically, the Democratic Party has also been hesitant with cryptocurrencies. It would therefore seem that a fringe of Republicans has chosen to make this opposition an issue.
The US elections will take place in November 2024. It is likely that digital currencies in general, and cryptocurrencies in particular, will will be carefully considered during the campaign. At a time when the hegemony of the dollar is wavering, and in the midst of the debt crisis, this is indeed a particularly crucial subject.
