Robert Habeck, Minister of Economic Affairs, Vice Chancellor and candidate for Chancellor of the Green Party, wants to “go up the drain”. At least that's the name of his new book, which will be published next week and whose title you don't necessarily understand at first glance. Habeck himself or someone from his campaign team seems to have invented this formulation: There is a fairly high probability that Germany will “go down the drain” if even the politicians of the democratic center rely on the means of populism, it says in the first chapter. Because the negative and bad-mouthing would always quickly be outdone by the next catastrophe, the even nastier insult, the even meaner hostility. He doesn't think it's the right strategy to play this game, said Habeck: “I'm sure we can decide. Each and everyone for themselves. I've decided: I want to offer something different. Up the creek.”
