If you want to shop quickly and conveniently, you can usually find it online. However, if you don't like the product, it can quickly become complicated, especially with very voluminous items. The mail order company Amazon has therefore planned changes that will make it easier to return heavy goods.
“Effective October 30, 2024, we are updating the (items that weigh more than 31.5 kg or whose longest side with packaging exceeds 175 cm) shipping by seller in the German, French, Italian and Spanish stores,” it says in an official announcement from Amazon regarding returns.
Amazon returns: Changes to the collection of goods
For customers, this means the following: Sellers must now also provide a pre-paid return label for goods that are sent via mail order, in addition to collecting the return at the door and issuing a refund. However, nothing changes in the terms of the cost assumption.
If you agree, a partial refund or replacement delivery is still possible instead of returning the item to Amazon.
Amazon orders of heavy goods could increase
The advantage is obvious. Until now, retailers in the Amazon Marketplace did not have to adhere to this regulation. Anyone who wanted to return the goods to Amazon therefore had to take care of returning the heavy or bulky goods themselves.
Because this condition also has a major deterrent effect, many people are afraid to buy large items online. This means that providers could also benefit from the adjustments in the long term.
