A few days ago, Apple brought its major AI extension called Apple Intelligence to various devices. So far, only users from the USA have been able to test the numerous new functions. The company has now announced when the Apple update will also be available in Germany.
With Apple Intelligence, the group is supplementing its operating systems with large AI models. These are intended to provide “experiences that are fun, intuitive, user-friendly and specifically designed to help users do the things that matter most to them,” according to Apple’s official update announcement.
The new Apple update can do that
The new functions include, among other things, numerous writing tools. With these, users can improve texts by having the AI reformulate, proofread or summarize them. The special thing about it is that with Apple Intelligence you don't need a special writing program. The AI simply does it wherever you write on your iPhone: in emails, notes or even third-party apps.
Film and photography fans will also get their money's worth with Apple Intelligence. There are now features there that allow you to create films exactly the way you want by simply entering a description. The AI also improves the removal of distracting objects in the background of a photo. This should now be possible without accidentally changing the motif.
Apple Intelligence is coming to Germany in 2025
Now the company has announced that the first set of Apple Intelligence features for iPhone, iPad and Mac users are now available via a free software update with the release of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1 is.
Initially, however, only users in the USA will benefit from this. But owners of Apple devices in Germany should not have to do without useful and entertaining AI functions in the future, as the small print in the press release states.
However, a little patience is still required in this country: “From April, the Apple Intelligence functions will be available for iPhone and iPad users in the EU. This includes many of the core functions of Apple Intelligence, including writing tools, Genmoji, a redesigned Siri with better speech recognition, ChatGPT integration and more.” The company has explicitly emphasized that the Apple update will then also be available in German.
