Westland Insurance’s first acquisition of the year is the purchase of Youngs Insurance Brokers’ West Burlington office in Ontario.
Youngs–Burlington West has served the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) for more than 20 years, providing custom insurance solutions. The brokerage offers home, auto, boat and watercraft, motorcycle, commercial, travel and life insurance, among others.
“With this acquisition, Westland deepens its roots in Ontario, a province that is strategically important as the brokerage continues expanding across Canada,” Westland says in a press release Tuesday. The acquisition was effective Feb. 21.
“As we continue our growth journey across Canada, we feel privileged to partner with a brokerage with such a long and rich insurance history,” says Westland president and CEO Jamie Lyons.
Youngs Insurance Brokers has provided insurance solutions for more than 100 years. It serves 30 cities throughout Ontario, including two offices in Burlington (west and east).
Westland continues to invest in and grow its business in Canada, both organically and through strategic acquisitions. It is one of the largest independent insurance brokerages in Canada, trading more than $4 billion in premium across commercial, personal, employee benefits, farm, and specialty insurance segments.
Westland made numerous acquisitions in 2024 in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.
In November, the brokerage grew its presence in Ontario with the purchase of MSP Insurance Corp. operating as Mitchell Sandham Pastor Insurance Brokers. Mitchell Sandham has served the GTA since 1957 with a variety of personal and commercial insurance coverages.
In late June 2024, Westland closed its acquisition of M. Butler Insurance, an independent, full-service P&C brokerage serving Niagara Falls, Ont. The brokerage provides home, auto, commercial, marine and life insurance, along with financial services and other offerings.
