WhatsApp introduces a new, AI-based function to text optimization that adapts the sound of messages. With the update of the beta version 2.25.19.8 For Android, a AI assistant is integrated directly into the keyboard.
This “Writing Help” uses the “private processing” technology of META AI, which, according to “Wabteatinfo”, ensures that no content is leaving the app or saving on servers. WhatsApp and Meta have no access to this data or insight into the optimized texts.
WhatsApp users have the choice: New function must be activated manually
The use of the new text optimization is completely voluntary and can be activated or deactivated at any time in the settings. Corrections and formulations only affect the selected messages, so that other messages in the chat remain untouched.
Users have the option of submitting feedback to AI suggestions without revealing the original text. Users can adapt the style of their news via a new button in the emoji area of the keyboard.
Text styles and data protection: Diverse options for WhatsApp users
Three style options are available: “professional”, “funny” and “supportive”. The AI proposes up to three variants per style. According to “Wabtainfo”, the selected version is only sent after the user decision without the recipient learned that a AI has participated.
