In the Ukraine, there is growing concern about possible acts of sabotage at other dams. On Tuesday, a Ukrainian commander reported a blast from the Mokri Yaly River, where Kiev’s troops apparently liberated several occupied villages on the border with Donetsk Oblast.
The biggest concern is the large reservoirs on the Dnipro. There are six of them, including the almost empty Kachowka reservoir. Almost all of them are larger than Lake Constance and have hydroelectric power plants, the lakes near Kakhovka and Kremenchuk are even four times larger. The lake above Kiev, the “Kiev Sea”, would flood parts of the capital if it were to be destroyed.
