Wilken Engelbracht: Because the cooperative is the form of partner for future projects that best suits the culture of a registered club and, above all, the culture of FC St. Pauli. The special thing about a cooperative is that it is a kind of twin of the club. Why? Because the cooperative embodies the core principle of an association, participatory and grassroots democratic for the members, as in the association. The cooperative was invented in Germany more than 150 years ago. The special thing is that it brings together people who have very similar interests. Here everyone has a vote, regardless of how many shares he or she has in the cooperative. The goals of the association are also the goals of the cooperative: that is why the cooperative fits our culture perfectly – unlike classic corporations such as an AG or a GmbH, which have an imbalance between shares and influence.
