A breakdown on Amazon causes Binance problems and several crypto actors
This morning, Amazon Web Services (AWS) servers have experienced a sufficiently large breakdown to disrupt the exchanges of Cryptomonnaies Binance and Kucoin. Indeed, withdrawals had to be temporarily suspended as security, while trading orders could be rejected:
We are aware of a problem affecting certain services on the Binance platform due to a temporary interruption of the network in the AWS data centers. Some orders are still validated, but others fail. If users meet a failure, they can try again. Our team works in close collaboration with AWS to solve this problem as quickly as possible.
Since then, the situation seems to have returned to normal and withdrawals have been reopened for the 2 platforms. In addition to Binance and Kucoin, other players in the ecosystem have been affected by the incident, including the Mexc Exchange as well as the Rabby Wallet Web3 portfolio.
According to AWS teams, the problem was caused by a power outage:
This problem was due to an interruption in the main and secondary power supply to the instances […] concerned. Meanwhile, customers were also able to see an increase in error rates and latencies |…]. Engineers were automatically contacted in a few minutes and immediately started studying solutions to mitigate the problem.
