MA man killed a 27-year-old woman with an ax in Berlin on Sunday. The police were called in the morning via an emergency call to the apartment on the ninth floor of a high-rise building on Löwenberger Strasse in the Lichtenberg district. According to the police, when they arrived at the scene of the crime, the emergency services witnessed how the 23-year-old hit his victim who was lying on the ground. They tried to stop the man and grabbed the gun.
The officers fatally injured the man, police spokesman Martin Dams said. The woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The act happened on Sunday morning shortly before eight o’clock, a homicide commission has started the investigation.
Many questions are unanswered
The police could not say what relationship the two were. It was also initially unclear who owned the apartment. “Neither the perpetrator nor the victim are reported in the apartment,” Dams said.
How many shots the police fired and how many officers shot the 23-year-old is part of the ongoing investigation, according to Dams. The deployed police officers are now receiving pastoral care.
