In Utah, Scriptures are being removed from school libraries saying they are full of “sexual amorality.” A parent had complained – meant sarcastically. The mockery is now serious.
In the American book ban fever, in which Democrats and Republicans have been trying to outdo each other in recent years, it has now caught the best-selling book of all time: the Bible. In the Davis School District north of Salt Lake City, Utah, which has 72,000 students in kindergarten through 12th grade, she is removed from elementary and middle schools at the start of summer vacation after a parent complained about pornographic and indecent content.
Last year, Utah passed legislation making it illegal to disseminate, publish, or make available “sexual amorality” (which includes the depiction or description of masturbation, sex, bestiality, genital arousal, or erotic touching) or “nude or semi-nude figures.” assessed and punishable by penalties of at least five hundred dollars and one month in prison.
