Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff, a 32-year outdated French journalist, was killed on Monday, whereas protecting the battle in Ukraine for the French information channel BFMTV. His dying was confirmed by French President Emmanuel Macron on his Twitter account and reported by many information retailers.
Leclerc-Imhoff is likely one of the many journalists who’ve been wounded or killed in Ukraine for the reason that nation was invaded by Russia on Feb. 24.
BFMTV stated Leclerc-Imhoff was protecting a humanitarian mission on board an armored automobile in the area of Severodonetsk when he was hit by a chunk of a shrapnel. The French journalist’s dying was introduced earlier on Monday by the governor of the Luhansk area, Serhiy Haidai, through a Telegram put up “saying that Russian forces fired on an armored automobile that was touring to select up individuals for evacuation,” in line with Le Monde newspaper
“Shrapnel from the shells pierced the automobile’s armor, fatally wounding an accredited French journalist in the neck who was reporting on the evacuation. The patrol officer was saved by his helmet,” Haidai wrote in his Telegram put up.
Macron paid homage to Leclerc-Imhoff on Twitter, saying that the journalist “was in Ukraine to point out the fact of the battle.”
“On board a humanitarian bus, alongside civilians compelled to flee to flee Russian bombs, he was fatally shot,” Macron wrote. Together with sending his condolences to the sufferer’s household, relations and colleagues, French president – who was simply re-elected for a second time period — stated he wished to “reiterate France’s unconditional assist” to “those that perform the troublesome mission of informing” on the entrance traces.
