According to users from all over the world, Twitter has had problems accessing the short message service for hours. The DownDetector platform, which specializes in Internet failures, reported a significant increase in problems on Twitter on Thursday night. Users would no longer have been able to see their notifications and no longer be able to use other functions. It was one of the most serious technical disruptions to Twitter since Elon Musk took over the online service.
Users report Twitter failures – Musk counters ironically
At the height of the disruption, DownDetector was reporting more than 10,000 complaints across the US around 05:00 GMT. In other countries, according to the platform, the number of complaints ranged from a few hundred to several thousand. The cause of the problems was initially unclear. In Germany, too, users reported failures of the short message service between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., as the platform “alle disturbances.de” shows.
Using the keyword “#TwitterDown”, users themselves reported numerous problems in the online service. “Can anyone see this or is Twitter broken?” wrote one user, only to receive a response from Musk himself, “It works for me.”
