Ski superstar Mikaela Shiffrin has equaled Lindsey Vonn’s record with her 82nd World Cup win. The 27-year-old American won the giant slalom on Sunday in Kranjska Gora ahead of Federica Brignone from Italy and Lara Gut-Behrami from Switzerland. Two Olympic victories, six world championship titles and 82 successes in the World Cup underpin Shiffrin’s supremacy in alpine skiing.
Since her downhill success in 2018, the American Vonn has led the all-time best list for women. The all-time record for men is still held by former Swedish ski sar Ingemar Stenmark with 86 victories. Shiffrin, who already celebrated her eighth success of the season in Slovenia, should soon reach this mark as well.
As in the first giant slalom on Saturday, the German starters Lena Dürr and Jessica Hilzinger missed the final round of the top 30.
