Smartphones such as the Wiko Power U30 or the Samsung Galaxy M51 are absolute battery monsters: Their energy storage capacities of 6,000 and 7,000 milliampere hours (mAh) respectively give them an outstanding endurance of over 13 hours with intensive use. But even the winner of the COMPUTER BILD mobile phone battery test cannot hold a candle to the WP19 from the Chinese manufacturer Oukitel. With an oversized 21,000 mAh battery, the high-energy smartphone should be able to last up to 2,252 hours in standby mode without a power outlet – a little longer than three months! According to the manufacturer, it can withstand active use for 36 hours of video playback, 123 hours of music playback and 122 hours of telephony.
Oukitel WP19: Bidirectional power bank smartphone
Another advantage of the enormous battery: Thanks to the bidirectional USB-C socket, the smartphone can be used to charge other devices – the cell phone quickly becomes a power bank. But the huge energy storage also has its price. To charge it fully, the WP19 needs a full four hours even when using a 27-watt fast charger. In addition, with a thickness of almost 3 centimeters and a weight of 570 grams, it is one of the absolute heavyweights – an iPhone 13 Pro Max weighs just over half (238 grams). But with the Oukitel WP19, the company, which was founded in 2007, is not aiming for the general public anyway, which is more concerned with a slim design in everyday life. Rather, the WP19 should inspire nature lovers who spend a lot of time away from civilization (and the nearest socket). So that it can withstand outdoor use, the smartphone’s housing is certified according to several protection classes: IP68, IP69K and the US military standard MIL-STD-810H should protect it from the ingress of dust and up to a depth of 1.5 meters 30 Also protect from water for minutes. According to the manufacturer, the smartphone easily withstands falls from a height of 1.5 meters.
That’s in it
If the Oukitel WP19 delivers what it promises, its strengths are clearly its hard shell and the oversized battery. The rest of its hardware is solid, but not nearly as spectacular as its energy storage. Inside, the Mediatek Helio G95 is a mid-range chip with LTE support, which is supported by 8 gigabytes of RAM. In addition, the outdoor smartphone offers a 6.78 inch (17.2 cm) display that reproduces content with 2460×1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 90 Hertz. It shoots snapshots with a triple camera, which consists of a 64-megapixel main camera and a 20-megapixel night vision and 2-megapixel macro lens for close-ups. According to the manufacturer, the front camera delivers photos with a 16-megapixel resolution. The Oukitel WP19 is not cheap. At the online retailer AliExpress, you currently pay just under 680 euros.
