Interviewed on Cryptoast during the NFT Paris event, the president of Animoca Brands, Yat Siu, shared his visions of the future of the metaverse. According to him, blockchain games (GameFi) and gaming will lead the way in 2023. Find out all the details in this article.
Animoca Brands bets on gaming in 2023
On February 24 and 25, the second edition of NFT Paris was held, a conference mainly dedicated to non-fungible tokens (NFT). On this occasion, the Cryptoast team went to meet many players in the ecosystem and in particular Yat Siu, president of Animoca Brands.
During the interview, the Hong Kong entrepreneur shared with us his vision of the future of the metaverse for the years to come. According to him, 2023 will be the year of gaming and blockchain games:
“We believe that in the next 12 months, gaming will attract a lot of new users. »
Indeed, the gaming sector in Web3 has generated enormous interest over the last 18 months, accompanied by equally important investments. As an example, Yat Siu explains that this represents more than in the field of traditional video games.
However, the results of these investments are not immediate. A game takes several years to be developed and therefore all those in which Animoca – and many others – have invested should see the light of day during 2023 or 2024.
Thus, Yat Siu says he is convinced that the release of these games will shed light on this part of the Web3 industry and attract a new wave of users.
As a reminder, Animoca Brands is a company specializing in investments and the development of projects around NFTs and the metaverse. Valued at more than $5 billion, this company has notably supported the success of The Sandbox, OpenSea, Decentraland and Dapper Labs.
Last November, Animoca launched Animoca Capital, an investment fund for the metaverse. The objective was to provide an entry point for companies wishing to invest in Web3. Among the other values defended by the Hong Kong company, we find in particular the digital property right for userspivot to the future of these virtual worlds, according to Yat Siu.
