What Will We See in the Game?
Open-world RPG games that have seen recent releases like Horizon Forbidden West have set the bar high in terms of gameplay, but the recent showcase given by Avalanche Software and Portkey Games has given us a rewarding look into the upcoming release. Full of fascinating glimpses that give a good idea of the epic potential this game could have and why it is right to be hotly anticipated by so many eager players.
This latest showcase gives us the most detailed look at Hogwarts Legacy to date; here are the highlights of the magical look inside Hogwarts and its upcoming release.
Hogwarts and Harry Potter have always presented a story with characters dressed to bring immense depth to each of their roles. In the new title, Hogwarts Legacy, this is no different and has been enhanced in the upcoming release. With your own caricature being so central to the game, Hogwarts Legacy will feature a comprehensive character creator, one that will let you choose from many physical attributes like hair style and colour, skin colour and even alter the voice your character speaks with. The costumes that could be seen are pure perfection, with choices available to robe yourself in the best 19th-century style. Harry Potter Fan Club members are to be rewarded for linking their accounts with a custom Fan-atic robe to give your caricature a boost.
Your Common Room
The showcase gave an insight into one of the houses available, the Hufflepuff common room is a warm, yet imposing place connected by round apertures it is adorned with green plants and has a light and airy feel. The showcase hints at the bookshelves and leaves us very much wanting more.
Hogwarts, as ever impressive, retains the almost set-in-stone need for grand staircases and the so-familiar Hogwarts Hourglasses. But far more is visible, with students relaxing by the elaborate water fountain, and further, as we delve into Hogwarts and the Defence Against The Dark Arts classroom it contains, we are greeted by enormous and imposing hanging bones that give a sense of our own position in the hierarchy of Harry Potters roots. The game designers are aiming towards no two corridors looking the same and the game is fully explorable. The surroundings of the castle are bathed in beautiful Scottish countryside that gives a lush and natural feel to the place.
Characters and Quests
The showcase takes us on a side quest, one where a student called Zenobia needs help in finding her Gobstones. And for anyone who recalls the character Molly Weasley, you will find her maiden name is present in a caricature presented by the new game. All very intriguing as it may come to pass that this caricature is an ancestor of Mollys. Other old traditions still abound, with Peeves proving he has been a resident poltergeist at Hogwarts for a very long time.
Integral to the game, we were treated to a training session in the art of duelling complete with practice against a wheeled wizard training aid. As you progress in your training you can move on to fight your classmates or enter various random competitions. You will need shield charms and different spell combinations to ensure victory in your battles.
Things To Look Out For
Be sure to take a visit to the hairdressers in Hogsmead and look out for other fun features that have been added to lift this game’s profile to an epic level. The game is set to be deeply detailed with many small features and experiences that may be missed if you rush through your gameplay, so when we do finally get our hands on the release, take your time and appreciate all that has gone into creating Hogwarts Legacy.
Of course, Avalanche Software is unlikely to tell us everything to expect from the game and is bound to leave a few surprises up its sleeve. It is likely as the release date nears and we start to see more adverts and promotions that more details will be released. We’ll likely soon start to see reviews and gameplay of the game too which will release more details
