Many groceries have become significantly more expensive. But if you pay attention to a few points, you can save money
LFor a long time, groceries in Germany were considered particularly cheap. In addition to energy, food in particular is one of the drivers of inflation today. In July, these cost 14.8 percent more than a year earlier – and there is currently no sign of an easing. The next condition talks between dealers and manufacturers are scheduled for autumn. The price is already being hotly debated today. The manufacturers want to raise the price, the food trade is trying – at least for private labels – to keep prices down. Dispute or not, food prices will probably continue to rise: According to a survey by the economic research institute Ifo, almost every retailer of food and luxury goods wants to increase their prices further in the coming months.
It is not easy to save when shopping for groceries – because the price increases mainly affect staple foods such as flour, cooking oils or pasta. Luxury goods that could easily be dispensed with the next time you go shopping are rarely found in the grocery range. And those who really need to save have probably crossed cashew butter, truffles and fig nut mustard off their shopping list a long time ago.
