Payments giant Visa has filed trademark applications closely related to the cryptocurrency industry. These demands mean that the company could soon lift the veil on an exchange, a crypto-wallet, tools for NFTs and more.
Visa continues its conquest of Web3
the juggernaut Visa would prepare a deep immersion in the world of cryptocurrencies.
A document filed on October 21 with the United States Patent and Trademark Office indicates the registration of many distinct products, namely:
- a cryptocurrency exchange platform ;
- a cryptocurrency wallet;
- a non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace;
- a blockchain transaction management and verification tool;
- virtual environments in which users can interact for entertainment (including metaverses).
These different entities are not clearly mentioned as such as the trademark registration, but we can easily guess what it is thanks to the details given by Visa. Here is for example the description of the exchange platform :
“Provide temporary use of non-downloadable software for users to view, access, store, monitor, manage, exchange, send, receive, transmit and exchange digital currencies, virtual currencies, cryptocurrencies, assets digital and blockchain, and non-fungible tokens (NFT). »
Obviously, this document does not indicate with certainty that Visa will indeed launch all the products presented. However, cThis demonstrates the company’s desire to prepare for mass adoption and to offer its own crypto services in the near future.

A company increasingly close to cryptocurrencies
Recently, Visa entered into collaboration with the FTX platform for the deployment of a crypto-card in more than 40 countries in Europe, Asia and Latin America.
A little after, the American company has partnered with the bank JPMorgan to develop cross-border payments through private blockchains.
Also this year, Visa launched a program focused on non-fungible tokens (NFTs), the Visa Creator Program. This program aims to support companies in integrating NFTs into their business models.
These numerous Visa initiatives prove that the company does not intend to let the Web3 opportunity slip by.
