The developers of WhatsApp are working on a feature that will allow users to transfer their chat history from their old to a new device, writes “WABetaInfo”.
Until now, it was possible for users of iOS and Android devices to exchange chat histories between the two operating systems, but this was often a laborious process using backups that then had to be loaded onto the new phone. But now there is a groundbreaking innovation: With the new function, users can transfer their old chats directly to new devices – and it’s easy to do this using the phone camera.
Just pull out the camera and your old chat histories will be on your new smartphone – a revolution in data transfer!
When will the new feature be available?
The feature appeared in the new WhatsApp beta 2.24.13.6 for Android. Users will soon be able to see a QR code that can be used to transfer chat history from an old device.
Users can then use the new device to display the QR code and scan it with the old device, which will then start the transfer. This feature is currently only available to beta testers of the messenger and will be available to other users in a future update.
