The traditional company “ABL” from Bavaria is insolvent. The company, which specializes in electromobility, cited the oversaturation of the market for private charging stations as the reason for its insolvency.
The electrical company “ABL” from the Bavarian town of Lauf has existed for 100 years. Founder Albert Büttner developed the well-known Schuko plug in 1925, and over the past few decades the company has focused on the manufacture of charging stations and wall boxes. Now, however, the family business had to take a decisive step and file for bankruptcy.
Electronics company “ABL” also blames politics for bankruptcy
As “ABL” explains in a press release, on the one hand the “saturation of the market” for private charging stations led to insolvency. On the other hand, in the course of the Russian war of aggression, the policy of emission-free electricity and energy generation has passed
Photovoltaics and heat pumps are given priority and electromobility is neglected. In addition, many customers have canceled or reduced their orders for charging stations.
Despite the bankruptcy, the electrical company is confident. Since e-mobility makes a significant contribution to the energy transition, “the path taken by ABL will continue to be fully future-proof,” said Managing Director Stefan Schlutius.
That is why the company will be reorganized on its own in the coming months. Meanwhile, business operations will continue “normally and to the full extent”, and customers will continue to be supplied.
Salaries of the 550 employees are certain for the time being – the number of jobs that will be lost is still unclear
The salaries of the 550 employees are also secure. To ensure that the employees continue to receive their wages on time, “ABL” is currently organizing the pre-financing of the insolvency money together with the employment agency and a bank. However, it is still uncertain how many employees will ultimately be laid off due to the insolvency.
In the future, “ABL” wants to rely more on “highly intelligent and calibration law-compliant charging infrastructure for the commercial and public sector,” the company said. It was only in May that a new charging station for companies, hotels and car parks was launched.
