WWhat decisions were made during the pandemic? How strong was the influence of which experts on politics? On what scientific basis did the federal government try to fight Corona? The Frankfurt doctor Christian Haffner wanted to know exactly and almost a year ago asked the Federal Chancellery for all the minutes of the Corona Expert Council, including notes on all agreements. He referred to the Freedom of Information Act, according to which everyone has a fundamental right to “access to official information”.
Open decision-making
The government refused. An objection was also unsuccessful. Because access to the minutes of the Corona Expert Council, which includes the then RKI President Lothar Wieler and, among others, the scientists Christian Drosten, Melanie Brinkmann, Viola Priesemann and Hendrik Streeck, could “enable the free and open decision-making of the Federal Government and the Expert Council affect and have an inhibiting effect on scientific advice”.
