‘Declining Trends’: Mars Ceases Production of Wrigley’s Spearmint Chewing Gum
Mars stopped producing Wrigley’s Spearmint last year. The chewing gum will soon disappear from German shelves.
As the “Rheinische Post” reports, the manufacturer Mars stopped producing Wrigley’s Spearmint last year. As soon as the remaining stocks have been sold, the products will therefore no longer be available for purchase in Germany.
When asked by the RP, a spokeswoman referred to “declining developments” in chewing gum. As a result, the “complete strip and mini-strip chewing gum range” will be removed from the portfolio. Mars Stand has not yet answered a request from CHIP.
Wrigley’s Spearmint Out: Mars Responds to “Industry Trends”
For customers, this means: In the future, only chewing gum dragées will be manufactured under the Wrigley’s brand. An equivalent alternative to the strips is no longer offered, according to the manufacturer. According to Mars, this is a response to “trends in the industry”.
The production stop was first noticed by a user on Reddit who was looking for the strips in supermarkets for some time – in vain, as it turned out. Wrigley’s stripes were first made in 1893, making them one of the oldest varieties in the world.
