Powlen Jessica started her journey as a social media influencer by posting lip-sync and dance videos on TikTok and gathered a huge fan following; however, after TikTok was banned in India in June 2020, she began posting videos on Instagram.

In 2014, Powlen Jessica acted in Theri, which was a Tamil action thriller film. Powlen Jessica appeared in the 2017 Tamil film Thupparivaalan, which was critically acclaimed. In the 2021 Tamil film Teddy, Powlen Jessica worked as a voice-over artist and lent her voice to an animated character of a teddy bear. At the beginning of 2022, Powlen Jessica landed a role in the Tamil film Carbon.

Death
On 19 September 2022, Powlen Jessica committed suicide, and her dead body was found by the Chennai police after her parents and friends lodged a complaint. According to the police, her family and friends lodged a missing complaint after Powlen Jessica had stopped responding to their phone calls and text messages. Reportedly, the police found a suicide note in her diary in which she had written that she ended her life because of her failing love life, and she does not blame anyone for her death. In the letter, she wrote,
I loved someone very dearly. But the love did not end. Therefore, I am leaving this world and no one is to be held responsible for my death. I will love you for the rest of my life and I will continue to love you even after it.”
